An airline pilot whose career has spanned over 40 years, Captain LoVecchio has extensive first-hand experience in team building, communication and leadership. He has a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership and has also flown fighter and transport aircraft in the USAF. In addition to his flying career, he has also been instrumental in the corporate education process. He is an Adjunct Professor of Leadership & Organizational Management at Eastern Mennonite University and has trained over 5000 crew members in CRM and Leadership Development.
The importance of team dynamics and leadership skills has recently been stressed in healthcare, nuclear, and other high-reliability industries. Captain LoVecchio has conducted training seminars in Leadership, Human Factors, team dynamics, and Threat & Error mitigation at UPMC Medical School, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Department of Neurosurgery, as well as the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce and Harrisburg University.
His understanding of the importance of leadership and human factors skills as a pathway for error mitigation is vitally important to aviation, medicine and other High Reliability organizations that demand teamwork and effective communication skills to trap and mitigate the effects of human error.
